12-1-08 Recap

Bobcats beat Timberwolves: This was Al Jefferson’s worst game offensively of the season. He scored just eight points and missed eight of his 11 shot attempts. However, he did contribute with six blocks and nine rebounds … Jason Richardson has scored over 20 points in each of his three games since returning from injury. Tonight he was particularly effective, shooting 11-18 for 25 points … I don’t want this recap to be all about scoring, so I should mention Raymond Felton’s 14 assists.

Celtics beat Magic: A pretty big matchup between two of the East’s elite, but the defending champs were just too good … Boston had an offensive efficiency of 125.9 for the night, which is way above average … With Jameer Nelson out with an injury, Stan Van Gundy opted to use a seven-man rotation. Because of this, Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis, and Dwight Howard all played over 40 minutes … Orlando grabbed 32% of their misses, including six offensive rebounds for Howard … Every member of Boston’s starting five had a good game. Paul Pierce scored an efficient 24 points (9-10 on free throws) and added seven rebounds. Kevin Garnett collected nine boards. Kendrick Perkins added 13. Ray Allen logged 40 minutes and made eight of his 13 attempts. Finally, Rajon Rondo notched 12 assists.

Heat beat Warriors: A wild overtime thriller, but you’d expect nothing less from the Golden State Warriors … The two teams combined to shoot 83 free throws. Golden State attempted 52 of them. Even more impressive is the fact that of those 52, they only missed five … The hero of the night for Miami was Dwyane Wade. The NBA’s leading scorer tallied 37 and added 13 assists. The only blemishes on his stat line are the seven turnovers … Miami also got solid performances from Udonis Haslem, Shawn Marion, and Michael Beasley, who made a crucial steal late in the game and hit the game-winning free throw … For Golden State, Heat-killer Jamal Crawford was superb. He played 50 minutes and scored 40 points … Corey Maggette was 17-18 on free throws.
